MAXIMIZE THE SPEED OF OUR INTERNET CONNECTION

In this chance, i would explain about how to maximaze the speed of our internet connection. Check to see if faster internet connections are in your area . Fiber optic and cable internet tend to be faster than DSL and Dial-Up. Do some basic maintenance on your PC . Run Disk Defrag, a scan disk, a virus scan, a malware scan, and clear your recycle bin. An unusually slow Internet connection experience is often the only sign that your computer is infected with viruses or other malware. Delete old files and temporary files. Never allow the free space on your C: drive to be less than 10% of the total size or twice the installed RAM (which ever is larger). A well maintained PC will operate much better than a PC that has never had any maintenance. Reset Your Home Network . Sometimes restarting (or unplugging and replugging the electric power on) your home network or your router -- if you have one -- will drastically increase the speed of your connection. Check your home network equipment in

MOZILLA UNVEILS ANDROID/CHROME OS COMPETITOR BUILT ON ANDROID KERNEL

Way back in 2009, the Mozilla Phone concept began taking shape. The project — kickstarted by developer Billy May — eventually matured  into Seabird, a community-driven initiative to create an open web phone. A handful of Linux distributions like Webconverger and xPud have offered quick-boot Firefox access for years — and more recently, Sebastian wondered why we hadn’t yet seen an official Firefox OS to counter Google’s Chrome OS. Now, however, with the announcement of Boot to Gecko (B2G), Mozilla seems to be ready to get the ball rolling, with the noble aim of providing a truly open mobile operating system built upon standard web technologies. The hardware target will be handheld devices like tablets and smartphones, making Boot to Gecko more of a challenge to Android than Chrome OS (at least in their current incarnations). With internet use on mobile devices like tablets and smartphones exploding right now , the world will soon be ready for a full-on alternative OS for its future h

FIREFOX 8 FOR WINDOWS X64

Over the last couple of weeks, Mozilla has finally stepped up its 64-bit testing process. There are now five slaves dedicated to building Firefox for Windows x64, which means that from Firefox 8 and onwards, you’ll be able to pick up 64-bit builds that are functionally identical to its 32-bit cousins but operating in native 64-bit CPU and memory space. When I first took 64-bit Firefox for a workout last year, it wasn’t the best of experiences: it crashed, JavaScript performance was abysmal, and it was generally sub-par compared to the stable, 32-bit branch. Today, however, Firefox 8 64-bit is stable and it’s fast; it’s really, really fast. Even more importantly, though, there are now stable 64-bit browser plug-ins for Flash and Java. In other words, there’s very little reason to not use Firefox 8 x64; you can download a copy from the Nightly site (it won’t interfere with your stable install), grab Flash 11 beta for Windows x64 and Java 6 for Windows x64, and start surfing. It’s that

CHROME NEARLY REPLACED FIREFOX AS UBUNTU’S DEFAULT BROWSER

When it debuted this spring, Ubuntu 11.10 caused more than a few gasps from the Linux faithful. The introduction of the Unity as the new desktop interface marked a dramatic shift for the Ubuntu desktop experience, and it’s a change that many Canonical faithful weren’t too thrilled about. It’s always a balancing act for Canonical, of course. Ubuntu is far and away the most popular desktop Linux distribution, and its users are generally a savvy and opinionated bunch. Decisions like UI changes and switching default applications tend to draw plenty of debate from users — so they’re not taken lightly. Plenty of noise was made when Banshee became the default audio player in 11.04, but believe it or not a much bigger switch was also considered: the distribution’s default web browser. Canonical’s CEO Mark Shuttleworth, as it turns out, is a big fan of Google Chrome. In a discussion with Network World, Shuttleworth praises Google for the way Chrome performs on Linux. “You don’t often see tha

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW A COMPUTER RESTARTS?

Have you ever wondered how a computer restarts? When your computer is seemingly powered down for a second or two, how does it roar back to life? Better yet, how does the hardware actually restart? Do you just cut the power to various processors, memory chips, and controllers, or is it far more complicated? This fundamental question, which most computer users have probably wondered about but never bothered to research, was recently asked over on Superuser, a Stack Overflow site. The answers, as you would expect, are comprehensive — and if you’re into computers, they’re really damn interesting, too. The basic gist is this: we started off with AT power, which is “hard power”: when you flip the switch, power is instantly cut to the motherboard. Then, with ATX, “soft power” — software-controlled power — made it possible for the operating system to power off or reboot the system. ATX brought a ton of power management changes, but fundamentally it introduced the concept of standby power, w

MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD UNSEATS EVOLUTION IN UBUNTU 11.10

While not nearly as popular as its web browser cousin, Mozilla Thunderbird is nevertheless one of the most widely-used desktop email applications around. On June 28th 2011 Thunderbird 5 was released, packing nearly 400 performance and stability fixes, improved wizards and tab handling, and an an updated add-on manager like the one that debuted in Firefox 4. It’s also Thunderbird’s first rapid release version, so we’ll wait and see if some system administrators have the same beefs about long-term support and breakage with Thunderbird as they did with Firefox. For now, however, there’s some additional good news for the Thunderbird team. Canonical has released the second alpha of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, and one of the most significant changes is to its default applications. After a lengthy tenure as Ubuntu’s pre-installed email client, Evolution has been booted — replaced by Mozilla’s blue, avian postman. The switch comes at an interesting time, what with Mozilla’s own Asa Dotzler

ROBERT MORRIS, FOUNDING FATHER OF UNIX

Robert Morris, a cryptographic genius and one of the founding fathers of the Unix operating system, has died at the age of 78. Morris obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Harvard in 1957 and 58 respectively, and then worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories from 1960 to 1986. At Bell Labs, Morris wrote Unix’s math library, the crypt program, and the encryption scheme that would be used for Unix user authentication for years to come. From 1986 to 1994, Morris worked for the US National Security Agency (NSA), where he served as the chief scientist of the National Computer Security Center. As chief scientist, he was involved with creating the Rainbow Series of standard security practices, and with electronic attacks on Saddam Hussein’s government in the lead-up to the 1991 Gulf War. Because his work for the US government is classified, it’s impossible to say exactly what he did as chief scientist, but he has admitted that he helped the FBI decode encrypted evidence.

Anyone that has used a PC for any length of time has experienced computer slow-downs, crashes, lack of disk space, and other annoying performance problems. While there are certain steps you should and can take to improve your computer's performance (see our article Computer Maintenance Tips) some computer maintenance operations cannot be performed by other than computer maintenance/cleaning program. We were asked to evaluate a computer maintenance/speedup product developed by PC Cleaner, Inc,.called PC Cleaner. In addition to being a computer maintenance product, PC Cleaner is also a computer speedup product because it also optimizes your computer's Internet speed and system memory usage. PC Cleaner performs the following computer maintenance tasks in automatic one-click mode; Windows Registry Cleaner, System Clutter Cleaner, Privacy Guard, ActiveX Cleaner, PC Optimizer, and Malware Cleaner . Let's briefly discuss the functions of each module.

COMPUTER MAINTENANCE

Ten Tips to Keep your Computer Running Smoothly 1. Never, never, turn your computer off with the power switch until Windows has shut down . The one exception to this rule is when your computer locks up and your hard drive is not running (hard drive light is not blinking). In this situation, you can turn the power off without harmful effects to the hard drive. As cutting the power can also result in lost data or Windows files, you should only do this when you have to. Following this rule will prevent permanent hard drive defects caused by the hard drive heads contacting the surface of the drive disc, and it will prevent a host of Windows problems. Whenever possible, recover from crashes by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys at the same time. Press them again to reboot your computer. 2. I highly recommend that you purchase an UPS (uninteruptable power supply) for your computer. This will keep your computer from crashing during power outages, and will protect your computer from low an
